DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, May 8. Tajikistan's government has signed the Declaration on Children, Youth, and Climate Action, becoming the third Central Asian nation to join this commitment, Trend reports.

UN International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) Tajikistan says the declaration, endorsed by over 40 countries, including neighbors Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, aims to accelerate the adoption of inclusive climate policies that prioritize children and youth's well-being on national and global scales.

"We firmly believe that addressing climate-related issues collectively, advocating a shared stance among states, and teaching children and youth on these matters will lay the groundwork for successful climate change adaptation in Tajikistan and the Central Asian area," said Zarafo Kiyomzoda, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection of the country.

The declaration, introduced during COP 25 in Madrid in 2019, represents an unprecedented alliance between world leaders and youth activists. This pioneering effort accelerates climate measures for youth and children. UNICEF works collaboratively with countries to implement this declaration.

The endorsement underscores Tajikistan's dedication to addressing climate challenges and prioritizing youth welfare, in line with broader global initiatives. The declaration remains open for endorsement by all the UN member states.
