The Ukrainian city of Simferopol hosted a street procession and commemoration ceremony dedicated to the 19th anniversary of Khojaly genocide, the Union of Azerbaijani youth in Ukraine told Trend.
At the initiative of the Islamic Conference Youth Forum and as part of the "Justice for Khojaly" campaign, the Union of Azerbaijani youth in Ukraine and the Azerbaijan Society of Crimea held a march in the central streets and squares in Simferopol under the slogan "The Armenians have to be answerable before history for the atrocities in Khojali!
The procession ended with distribution of information booklets, reflecting the atrocities by the Armenians committed in Khojaly.
Later a ceremony was conducted to commemorate the victims of Khojali tragedy with the participation of representatives of diasporas of several peoples living in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, as well as local and foreign students. Participants of the event, watching a documentary about the massacre in Khojaly, learned about perfidy of the Armenians, representing themselves to world as an unfortunate and oppressed people.
The activities organized in the country by the Islamic Conference Youth Forum and the Union of Azerbaijani youth in Ukraine will continue until the end of February.
The Armenian military forces committed genocide in Khojaly on Feb. 26, 1992. More than 600 people were killed, including 63 children, 106 women and 70 old men. A total of 1,000 civilians were disabled during the genocide. Eight families were annihilated, 130 children lost one parent, and 25 lost both. Additionally, 1,275 peaceful residents were taken hostage, while the fate of 150 remains unknown.
