Georgia, Tbilisi /corr. Trend N.Kirskhalia / The border services of Azerbaijan and Georgia has commenced investigations into the case of the murdered shepherd on the Georgian-Azerbaijani border.
On 27 August 34 year old Elimkhan Nasibov, resident of Georgia's district of Marneuli densely occupied by Azerbaijanis, was fired at near the Krasni Most checkpoint on the Azerbaijani-Georgian border. Nasibov died on the spot.
According to information received from the police of the Kvemo Kartli region, Georgian citizen Nasibov was watching over his livestock near the border at 08:00 hours in the morning when several shots were fired from the Azerbaijani side.
He received two bullets, one in the throat and the other in the arm. As Nasibov tended his cows between the posts of the front borders of Azerbaijan and Georgia, investigations are ongoing to find out if Nasibov had violated the border with Azerbaijan.
The initial investigation was held by the police of Kvemo Kartli region. Nasibov's family refused to hold legal-medical examinations.
It is not excluded that a joint investigation will be held by the two countries. This was confirmed by the Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan's district of Gazakh. The Prosecutor's Office stated that the case is being investigated by the Military Prosecutor's Office. Yet it has not been possible to obtain any information from the Military Prosecutor's Office.
