Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S.Ilhamgizi / Etibar Mammadov, the leader of the Azerbaijan (ANIP) gave a normal reply to the resignation of Ayaz Rustamov from the post of the chairman of the ANIP, saying there are enough people in the party to replace him.
Rustamov informed the party leader about his resignations and held a meeting, Mammadov said in talks with Trend.
"Poor health problems did not allow him to rule the party properly," Mammadov said.
ANIP's elections bodies will consider the appeal by the chairman and take a decision in line with the party's charter. Mammadov has no intention to interfere in the decision on resignation and subsequent developments.
"There are too many potential people for the post of chairman," the ANIP leader said.
Ayaz Rustamov, the chairman of the oppositional Azerbaijan National Independence Party (ANIP), appealed to the political board of the Party for his resignation in connection with some problems in his health.
The Political Board will make a relevant decision after the consideration of the appeal.
Rustamov asserted that he resigned from the post of chairman. He denied any supposition as though he took this decision under pressures of the ANIP activists.
"My resignation is not linked to inner party developments. Key reason for my resignation is my poor health," Rustamov said.
Several months ago Ali Orujov, the Secretary Agitation and Media of the ANIP, said that he was dissatisfied with Rustamov's activities. Moreover, Etibar Mammadov, the leader of the party, said about inactive political activities of the party.
ANIP the first Azerbaijani party obtaining state registration, was founded by Etibar Mammadov in 1992. Presently, Mammadov is the deputy chairman of the International Democratic Union.
