Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 23 / Trend , N.Abdullayeva/

Azerbaijan and Jordan intend to expand military-technical cooperation.

Azerbaijani Defense Minister General Lieutenant Safar Abiyev will discuss perspectives to expand military-technical cooperation in Amman in April, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Jordan Elman Arasli told Trend in a telephone conversation on Feb. 23.

The visit's exact date and program is being specified via diplomatic channels, Arasli said.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a bilateral agreement on defense field during his visit to Jordan in 2007. Under the agreement, a joint commission on military cooperation was formed and its first meeting was held in Baku in summer 2008. The parties discussed a large spectrum of bilateral cooperation issues, as well as training military staff at the Jordanian universities, exchange of experience and other issues of mutual interest.

Azerbaijan signed a military-technical cooperation agreement with over 20 countries and is cooperating with over 50 countries in this field.
