32, 933 candidates have already been approved for 1,718 municipalities, the press service of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan told Trend .
Of those whose candidatures were approved, 32,086 people received the signature lists in the constituencies. Of them, 27 053candidates have collected the necessary signatures and submitted these lists and other necessary documents to the relevant constituencies. 22, 851 candidates have already been registered in 1700 municipalities. Of this number, 4,962-are women. 12, 070 approved candidates for municipal elections have higher education.
Municipal elections in Azerbaijan will be held on December 23. During these elections, 15 682 members will be elected for 1,718 municipalities.
Of the candidates, 5,972people are independent, others represent 24 political parties. 22 political parties officially joined the election. The constituencies have registered candidates from 13 parties.
