Azerbaijani Ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova has received the U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza upon his request, Ombudsman Office told Trend.
During the meeting, Suleymanova has mentioned the importance to continue mutual cooperation in human rights with the U.S. Embassy.
The meeting was aimed at determining the priorities of the future cooperation. Bryza said at the meeting that dynamic development processes are continuing in Azerbaijan,
He said stated that Azerbaijani ombudsman, who has great experience, conducts productive activities in protection of human rights.
Bryza positively assessed the recent pardoning of imprisoned Eynulla Fatullayev.
The ambassador also asked about ombudsman's activities in ensuring the rights of Bakhtiyar Hajiyev, Jabbar Savalanli and others, monitoring of their condition, as well as in protecting property rights of citizens, and his questions were covered comprehensively.
Suleymanova said her office closely cooperates with the state agencies, NGOs, civil society, and informed of the activities conducted by the Ombudsman office.
The meeting was also attended by U.S. Embassy's advisor for political affairs Brigette Buchet.
