Turkish Foreign Ministry: Peaceful resolution of Syrian conflict impossible without putting end to regime violence

Azerbaijan, Baku, July 1 / Trend, A. Taghiyeva /

While the Syrian regime has not abandoned the use of violence against the population, and as long as foreigners fighting on the side of the regime do not leave Syria, a peaceful resolution to the Syrian conflict is impossible, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey published on its website on Monday.

The report says that speaking of peaceful solution for the crisis is impossible without the fulfillment of these two conditions.

Clashes between the government forces and the armed opposition have been on-going in Syria for over two years. According to UN statistics, the death toll in Syria exceeds 100,000, and millions of people are in need of humanitarian assistance. Syrian authorities say they oppose the well-armed militants.
