Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev received Japan’s Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Motome Takisawa on Aug. 30.
The president expressed hope that Takisawa’s visit to Azerbaijan will create good opportunities to get acquainted closer with the country and will further strengthen the existing friendly relations between the two countries.
Noting the successful cooperation between the two countries over more than twenty years, President Ilham Aliyev said that these relations cover many areas.
Strong political relations exist between Japan and Azerbaijan; many Japanese companies take part in various projects in Azerbaijan, as well as there are good prospects to expand relations between the two countries’ business structures, added Aliyev.
“Our relations are multi-vector,” said the president and expressed confidence in further development and strengthening of cooperation in the future.
The head of the state noted the importance of the visit in terms of identifying ways of future cooperation.
During the meeting, it was noted that there are effective opportunities to bring economic relations between the two countries to a new level. The sides also exchanged views on cooperation in such areas as oil and gas sector, high technologies, agriculture, pharmaceutics, education and others. It was also noted that these spheres have good prospects.
Motome Takisawa, in turn, said that Azerbaijan’s success in sports is observed with interest. He went on to add that Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev is a state leader, who heartily loves sports.
The vice minister recalled the success of the First European Games held in Azerbaijan in 2015 and also gave an invitation of the Japanese side to Azerbaijan’s president for Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Takisawa noted with satisfaction the successful achievements of Azerbaijani and Japanese athletes at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed congratulations on the occasion of the Summer Olympics in 2020 in Tokyo and expressed confidence in the successful organization of the event.
