Third round of discussions on Action Plan of the EU Initiative between Azerbaijan and the EU will be held under the New Neighborhood Policy, Arif Mammadov, the Azerbaijan Ambassador to Azerbaijan, said. He was commenting on the last consultations on the Action Plan held in Brussels on 7 March.
According to Mammadov, there were some wrangling political and economic issues with Azerbaijan on the Action Plan of the EU Initiative, which should be accorded with other EU member. Such problems exist with other South Caucasus countries as well. Azerbaijan is particularly dissatisfied with some formulations. Wed like to have more precise demonstration of the positions on the issues, he stressed.
The diplomat also noted that the date of third round of consultations was still to be determined. Now Azerbaijan and the EU will have to mull issues which were accorded during this round of talks. These issues will be on focus of the forthcoming visit of the EU trio to Baku on 19-22 April, the Ambassador underlined.
Mahmud Mammadguliyev, the Deputy Foreign Minister, led the Azerbaijani delegation, at the consultations that officially opened in Baku on 12 December 2005.
