Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr I. Alizade / On 3 May Ayaz Rustamov, Chairman of the Azerbaijan National Independence Party (ANIP), agreed with the words of Etibar Mammadov, leader of the ANIP. Mammadov had stated that the activities of the party had decreased.
"The ANIP failed to show the desired effect," Rustamov stated. He voiced his believes that the situation in the country hindered the activities of the party. The chairman added that the ANIP would try to change the situation.
The right wing opposition ANIP was founded in 1992 by Etibar Mammadov and is the first party that was officially registered in Azerbaijan. Etibar Mammadov was the chairman of the party up until 2004. For the time being he is the deputy chairman of the International Democratic Union. The ANIP is now headed by Ayaz Rustamov.
