Georgian Shepherd Fired by Azerbaijani Soldier

Georgia, Tbilisi / Trend corr. К.Zarbaliyeva, E.Huseynli / The Georgian shepherd was killed by Azerbaijani soldier, Vagif Agayev, on the Azerbaijani-Georgian border, Afraim Tahmazov, the head of the press-service of the Azerbaijani Military Prosecutor Office reported.

On 27 August, 34-year old Elimkhan Nasibov, resident of Georgia's district of Marneuli densely occupied by Azerbaijanis, was fired at near the Krasni Most checkpoint on the Azerbaijani-Georgian border. Nasibov died instantly.

Agayev was drafted to the military service from Imishli region of Azerbaijan. A criminal case has been filed regarding the contravention of Article 120.1 (wilful homicide) in the Gazakh region Prosecutor Office.

Elimkhan Nasibov violated the prohibited region, and did not stop despite defensive fire, Eldar Sabiroglu, the head of the press-service of the Defence Ministry of Azerbaijan, stated.

According to information received from the police of the Kvemo Kartli region, Georgian citizen Nasibov was tending his livestock near the border at 08:00 hours in the morning when several shots were fired from the Azerbaijani side.

He received two bullets, one in the throat and the other in the arm. As Nasibov tended his cows between the posts of the front borders of Azerbaijan and Georgia, investigations are ongoing to find out if Nasibov had violated the border with Azerbaijan.

The initial investigation was held by the police of Kvemo Kartli region. Nasibov's family has refused to hold legal medical examinations.
