There not to be any chemical siftings in Azerbaijani town Sumgayit in nearest future: minister

There will be no chemical siftings in Sumgayit (35 kilometers from Baku) during the nearest 3-4 years, Azerbaijani Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources said.  

"Sumgayit's mercuric siftings were fully carried. Projects on carrying other siftings are being prepared," Azerbaijani Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Huseyn Bahirov said at the press-conference on April 24. 

Over 10,000 tons of harmful siftings are leap out to atmosphere from stationary sources of pollution during a year in Sumgayit. Presently, major part of polluting substances leap out to atmosphere falls on production enterprise "Aluminium" ("AzerAluminium").  Moreover, gases evolving while combustion on special siftings ground of "Azkompozit" enterprise pollute atmosphere. 

Totally, several hundreds of siftings were carried from Sumgayit, Minister said. "Siftings were filled up on special ground designated for dangerous siftings. Ground will be filled soon. So, new ground will be constructed on this regard," Bahirov said.
