Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb.15 / Trend , K. Zarbaliyeva /

There is no need to reduce the number of state personnel in Azerbaijan, U.N. resident coordinator in Azerbaijan said.

"Other countries can envy the situation in the sphere of state service in Azerbaijan," U.N. Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Bruno Pueza said at the opening of training for responsible government officials titled, "Human Resource Management."

He said that all over the world there are reforms aimed at reducing the number of state personnel.

"From this point of view, the situation in Azerbaijan is favorable," Pueza said.

According to him, reforms in the sphere of state service should create favorable working atmosphere for employees.

According to the Chairman of the Commission on Public Service Bahram Khalilov, trainings are conducted on the initiative of state servants.

Courses organized by the Commission jointly with the U.N. Development Program (UNDP) will last until Feb.19, Khalilov said.

Khalilov expressed regret that there are few civil servants fluent in English, which hinders the adoption of foreign experience and also makes it hard to participate in trainings conducted in other countries.

International expert Rimantas Klepachis will read lectures on the topics, "Peculiarities and current trends in human resource management in state service," "Planning, staff selection, adaptation and assessment of human resource management," "Characteristics of managers and leaders."
