Caspian hydrometeorology and pollution problems to be discussed in Baku

The 16th session of the Coordinating Committee of the Caspian countries to monitor the hydrometeorology and pollution of the Caspian Sea (KASPKOM-16) will take place in Baku on Nov. 23-24 in Baku under the auspices of the National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MENR).

Attending the event will be representatives of Caspian hydrometeorology organizations, World meteorology organizations, representatives of the UN Environment Programme, shipping and aviation companies, economic enterprises operating in the Caspian Sea, as well as scientists and representatives of NGOs, Irada Ibragimova, spokesman for the Ministry of Environment told Trend.

The gathering will discuss the condition of operational marine hydrometeorological stations and marine hydrometeorological monitoring network, measures taken on the basis of long-term observations of the sea level fluctuations and the preparation of the sea water temperature catalog, as well as cooperation and future joint plans between KASPKOM and the Framework Convention for the conservation of the Caspian Sea environment.
