PARIS, France, August 6. Azerbaijani competitor in women's wrestling Mariya Stadnik has hit a roadblock in her journey to the semifinals of the competition, coming up short against her opponent in the 1/4 finals at the Summer Olympics in Paris, Trend reports.

Stadnik, going head-to-head in the 50 kg weight category, crossed paths with Otgonjargal Dolgorjav, flying the flag for Mongolia, in the 1/4 finals.

Before that, in the 1/8, Stadnik crossed paths with Anastasia Blayvas, who was representing Germany, and came out on top with a score of 6:2.

Mariya Stadnik is a silver medalist at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympics, as well as a bronze medalist at the Beijing 2008 and Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

To note, the Paris Summer Olympics will conclude on August 11.

Azerbaijani judokas Hidayat Heydarov and Zelym Kotsoiev have already secured victories. Additionally, boxer Alfonso Dominguez has guaranteed at least a silver medal by advancing to the final, scheduled for 00:34 (GMT+4) on the night of August 9–10.
