BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 24. A roundtable organized by the Azerbaijan Campaign to Ban Landmines (AzCBL) Public Union, dedicated to the victims of landmines, has taken place in Baku, Trend reports.
The roundtable discussed implemented projects and upcoming tasks in this field.
The event featured representatives from organizations engaged in mine action and supporting mine victims, including representatives from the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA), local MPs, as well as officials from the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, the YASHAT Foundation, the Ombudsman’s Office, mine victims, NGOs, and the international community.
Speaking at the event, ANAMA official Ramil Azizov said that the agency is currently training 1,138 demining instructors during a roundtable discussion on mine victims.
“More than 168,000 ha of land has been demined in Karabakh today. A total of 161,000 mines have been detected. After the war, 381 people became victims of mines. As many as 70 people were dead, 311 were injured,” he added.
