Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Ilhamgizi / Rauf Arifoglu, the editor-in-chief of the Yeni Musavat newspaper, reported that the Committee for Protection of Azerbaijani Convicted Journalists Rights and the Union of Editors will hold a rally in Baku on 12 June. This decision was approved during the meeting of the Committee on 18 May.
The rally will begin from the Nefchilar subway station and continue on the square near the oil refinery plant. The organizers will appeal to the Executive Power of Baku on 21 May for sanctioning of the action. Moreover, journalists will stage a picket on 22 May. Similar actions will be held every Tuesday.
The journalist organizations and the Union of Editors demand to release detained journalists - Eynulla Fatullayev, the Editor-in-Chief of Gundelik Azerbaijan and Realniy Azerbaijan newspapers, Rovshan Binnetly and Yashar Agazade, the Editors of Muxalifat newspaper, Mirza Sakit, an employee of Azadlig newspaper as well as to search and punish the killers of Elmar Huseiynov, the editor-in-chief of Monitor magazine and adopt the Defamation Law.
