Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend S.Ilhamgizi /State bodies' are considering the issue of distribution of advertising to press organizations, this opinion was voiced at a conference held jointly by the Press Council of Azerbaijan and the Embassy of Turkey on 29 May.
The Chairman of Press Council of Azerbaijan, Aflatun Amashov, said that providing advertisement plays a great role in improving the activities and economic opportunities of media organizations. According to him, an official organization functions in Turkey to distribute advertising and announcements amongst newspapers.
Attending the conference, the Head of the Press Distribution Organization, Ertam Jilov, presented information on the activities and experience of the organization. According to him, the organization brings together 36 members, with 12 representatives of the State bodies, 12 media organizations and 12 neutral organizations. Those who desire to receive advertising from the official organization should make a written appeal. The newspapers published in Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir have the right to receive advertising from the Press Distribution Organization only if they have at least 12 correspondents.
The Ambassador of Turkey to Azerbaijan, Huseyn Avni Garslioglu, said that the revenue of western newspapers exceed their profits from sale. "It is our duty to introduce to Azerbaijan the experience of Turkey in regulating the advertising market of the press," the Ambassador said.
The representative of Azerbaijan's Presidential Administration, Vugar Selimov, said that an independent advertising market is being formed in Azerbaijan and it creates favourable conditions for the development of free press, freedom of speech and expansion of the pluralism. "The Government of Azerbaijan is interested in the expansion of the advertising market," Selimov said.
