Azerbaijan, Baku, August 17 / Trend , I.Khalilova /
Consultations of the expert of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program with the government of Azerbaijan last week in Baku did not clarify the question of the creation of a special state body that would regulate the transport and trade procedures, Baku office of the Asian Development Bank said on August 11.
"Concrete decision has not yet been made and, it is possible that this issue will be managed as in the case of the TRACECA program, and it is probable to create a department in any government agency, the same source said. - The consultant held working discussions and possibly they will continue, or this process will not further develop".
"During three days, the consultant held discussions at the Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Economic Development and State Customs Committee to determine the feasibility of establishing such a structure and its status," the same source said.
The establishment of this body is envisaged within the CAREC Program to facilitate transport and trade procedures. In some countries, CAREC has already created this agency.
"Each country has its own internal structure regulating transport and trade issues, so the combination of all procedures related to these sectors, including customs procedures and other support, in one body is difficult," the Baku office said.
This is the second visit of the consultant to Baku, the first discussions on this issue were held in April.
CAREC - a partnership of eight participating countries (Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, PRC, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan) and six international organizations (ADB, EBRD, IMF, IDB, UNDP and World Bank).
