The International Bank of Azerbaijan (IBA) remains interested in opening a representative office in Qatar, IBA Chairman Jahangir Hajiyev said at the news conference today.

"The question of opening a representative office is still on the agenda. The bank just faced with certain bureaucratic obstacles and, of course, the financial crisis affected the delay in this process," Hajiyev said.

Despite this, he said, the bank will further continue efforts to open a representative office in Qatar.

"The Persian Gulf region plays an important role in the global economy. In addition, IBA is working on the introduction of "the Islamic banking "and cooperation with countries of this region is important for the bank," Hajiyev said.
