Uzbekistan has received the first of two high-speed trains bought by the State Railway Company Uzbekistan Railways from the Spanish Parentes Talgo S., the Uzbek Railway Company reported.
The Spanish Patentes Talgo S. A. and Uzbekistan Railways signed a contract on the purchase of two high-speed trains AVE 250 worth 38 million euros in November 2009.
Trains will be used on the Tashkent-Samarkand route, whose length is 356 kilometers. The maximum speed is 250 km per hour. The contract includes service of trains, as well as driver training in Spain.
The electricity train consists of two head locomotives, eight coaches and dining car. It has places of the VIP-class, first and economy class and special conditions created here for passengers with disabilities. The total capacity of trains is 257 people.
The trains will be tested in the near future and the regular operation is scheduled for September.
The second train will be delivered in September 2011.
The project is financed through the Uzbekistan Temir Yollari and resources of the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan.
