Turkmenistan approves its staff of Turkmen-Azerbaijani intergovernmental commission on cooperation

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov has approved the staff of the intergovernmental Turkmen-Azerbaijani commission for economic cooperation from the Turkmen side.

The document says that it will serve to the fulfillment of bilateral agreements between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, as well as further development of cooperation between the two countries.

In recent years, the highest level visits were exchanged between the two Caspian countries. At present, Turkmen oil and refined fuel products is transported through Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan are considered by the European Union as a source of raw materials for the future "Nabucco" gas pipeline to Europe through Turkey, which will allow countries to diversify its energy resources sale markets.

Turkmenistan can join this project during the construction of a 300-kilometer gas pipeline on the Caspian seabed, related with Azerbaijan's infrastructure.

At the recent oil and gas conference in Ashgabat, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Vice President for Strategic Development Tofig Gahramanov said that Azerbaijan guarantees and provides its own territory, transit opportunities and infrastructure to implement the Trans-Caspian project.
