Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has studied the projects aimed at further developing air transport infrastructure, the national Turkmenistan TV channel reported on Wednesday.

Heads of Polimeks and Belda, Erol Tabanca and Battal Kara, submitted their offers.

The project of the capital's airport with a capacity of 1,600 passengers per hour was prepared by Polimeks.

The president voiced a number of comments and recommendations.

Tabanca, as stated in the information, "expressed his sincere gratitude for the opportunity to make a worthy contribution to implementing the national program of large-scale transformation."

The German companies EWC and Hoshtief, and the French Bouygues and VINCI Construction have also been involved in the international tender for the capital's airport from the very beginning.

The current capital airport was built in the nineties.

Currently scheduled flights are made from Afghanistan to Azerbaijan, Britain, Germany, Russia, Turkey, China, Iran, Pakistan, India, UAE. This list in recent years was added by routes to Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, negotiations are being held to open air routes to France, Italy, Canada and other cities in the world.

The Turkmen leader has made his own adjustments, stressing that all design and construction work at these facilities must be carried out with impeccable quality and strict deadlines.
