Around 123 subsoil users and mining companies violated contractual obligations in Kazakhstan.

Around 123 subsoil users and mining companies violated contractual obligations in Kazakhstan, the National Agency for Local Content Development of the country's Ministry of Industry and New Technologies (NADLoC JSC) said on March 18.

"As a result of the analysis conducted by NADLoC on the results of 2013, there was revealed 123 unscrupulous enterprises that violate the legislation," according to the JSC.

Some 82 companies violated contractual obligations of local content in the procurement of goods, works and services; 17 companies didn't fulfill their obligations of local content in plans; about 81 companies violated obligations on expenditures on the training of employees in the amount of 26.6 million tenge; around 54 companies violated the rules of obtaining goods and services totaling 57.8 billion tenge ($ 1= 182.06 tenge).

The information about unscrupulous companies was transferred to the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies for taking appropriate measures in due course. In case of non-fulfillment of rules the state has the right to terminate the contract.

"The development of local content in the activities of mining companies is one of the most important tasks. The local content accounted for 54.6 percent in the procurement of the mining complex companies, while this figure amounted to 47.1 percent in 2012, "NADLoC said.
