In 2017, Qizilqumsement JSC, the biggest cement facility in Uzbekistan, increased cement production to 3.6 million tons, which is by 1.9 percent more than in 2016, the company’s management told Trend.
The biggest part of the cement (60 percent of the production volume) was sold through exchange trades, 23 percent of the cement’s production volume was sold according to direct contracts with regulated prices, 14 percent was exported and 2 percent was sold according to direct contracts based on exchange quotations.
In 2018, according to the business plan of Qizilqumsement JSC, its cement production is expected to be at least 3.5 million tons, the company said.
However, this doesn’t mean that the cement production will decrease compared to 2017, because these are only the forecast indicators, the company noted.
There are five big cement facilities and several small ones with total capacity of 8.5 million tons in Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan exports cement to Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
