KTZ JSC (Kazakhstan Railways) transported 4.9 million tons of grain in January-May 2018, which is 49 percent more than in the same period of 2017, the press service of KTZ said in a message.
The company exported the most part of grain (3.7 million tons), exceeding by 79 percent the grain exports year over year.
"Transportation of flour and grocery products also illustrates high dynamics in the period from January to May 2018. We transported 1.4 million tons of flour in the mentioned period, which is 18 percent more, year over year. One million tons of flour transportation accounted for export, which is a 21 percent increase year over year," the company said.
The total volume of export, carried out by KTZ in January-May 2018, amounted to 32.8 million tons, increasing by 3 percent year over year. The highest growth was recorded at border crossings with China (52 percent), Uzbekistan (35 percent) and Turkmenistan (2.2 times). Volumes of goods transportation through the seaport of Aktau, in turn, increased by 38 percent.
