By producing and commissioning the SAC500 catalyst, Iran has prevented 15 million euros from leaving the country, Ali Pajouhan, Executive Director of Petrochemical Research and Technology Company, said at a press conference on March 13, Trend reports referring to ISNA.
According to Pajouhan, Iran has reached a level of self-sufficiency in the production of SAC500 catalyst for producing heavy polyethylene pipes (PE-100).
The company official said the cost of foreign catalysts resembling this one is about 300-400 euros per kilogram.
Pajouhan added that 7 contracts were signed for the production of catalysts during the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2018).
"Next year (begins March 21, 2019), a minimum of 7 strategic catalysts will be manufactured," he said.
Saying that there are 3 or 4 companies in the world which produce these catalysts, Pajouhan said that Iran produces 100 tons of catalysts per year and uses 45-50 tons.
