Iran’s Derakhshan Iron and Steel Industry Company has produced 225 cargo railcars this Iranian year (began March 21, 2019), said Rahman Mirnezami, executive director of the company, Trend reports citing IRNA.
Mirnezami said that 100 cargo railcars of this amount have been manufactured at the order of the Kermanshah Petrochemical Industries Company and are ready for delivery.
The executive director added that each of the company’s two-purpose railcars cost 2.3 billion rials (about $55,900).
Mirnezami noted that 75 two-purpose railcars were manufactured and delivered at the order of an Iranian transport company owned by the Pension Fund of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways.
“According to the order by Armin Industries Company, 50 four-purpose railcars worth a total of 6.3 billion rials (about $150,000) have been manufactured and will be delivered to the company soon,” the executive director said.
It is possible to produce more than 500 cargo railcars per year at the Derakhshan Iron and Steel Industry Company, Mirnezami added.
The Derakhshan Iron and Steel Industry Company started operations in 1996 as the Service Center of the Esfahan Mobarakeh Steel Company.
