There have been discussions on eliminating the tax exemptions for artists in Iran, in the next year's budget plan, head of the Planning and Budget Organization of Iran Mohammad Bagher Nobakht said, Trend reports via IRNA.
However, Nobakht added that the government has opposed to the proposal to remove the tax exemption in the next year's draft budget bill.
Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed Abbas Salehi has also called for a revision of the mentioned decision, in a letter to the Vice President.
Salehi emphasized that while news of the government's agreement to approve the state of culture in the country created joy in society, unfortunately the news on the idea of removing the tax exemption for artists, raised concerns.
