A rail cargo terminal will be built in the Parsabad county of Iran’s Ardabil province.
Governor of Ardabil province Akbar Behnamju and Managing Director of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways (RAI) Saeed Rasouli have signed the contract in this regard, Trend reports referring to website of Ardabil province governorate.
At the ceremony of signing the agreement, Behnamju said that this agreement is being signed after coordination with the Azerbaijani side regarding the establishment of a rail cargo terminal in Parsabad.
The governor noted that Rasouli will visit Azerbaijan in the near future to take final steps towards joint cooperation.
Behnamju reminded that the Ardabil province processing industry and agricultural products will be transported to Russia, the Caucasus and Central Asia countries by rail.
Under the agreement, Ardabil province and RAI will cooperate to attract investors to the construction of a rail cargo terminal in Parsabad.
The research regarding the construction of Iran’s Ardabil-Parsabad railway is underway, and upon its completion the railway will be laid. The distance between Parsabad and Ardabil is 203 kilometers.
