Uzbekistan introduces new procedures to increase its export

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 14

By Ilkin Seyfaddini - Trend:

Uzbekistan has introduced new procedures to encourage export entrepreneurs, Trend reports with reference to the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan.

"For example, export customs duties on goods have been abolished, customs clearance fees have been reduced, and there are no more bureaucratic procedures such as forced sale of foreign currency proceeds from the export of goods to the state," the report said.

"From now on, there is no need to conclude an export contract, and only an invoice is required for it. Business entities export fruit and vegetable products without a license for wholesale trade and freely set export prices for their products," the committee added.

Under new procedures, exported fruit and vegetable products are no longer subject to customs inspection.

For three months of 2020, only 53 minutes on average were spent on customs clearance of goods and vehicles, the message said.

In 2019, on the basis of more than 158,000 export cargo customs declarations issued by customs authorities, $9.2 billion worth of goods were exported from Uzbekistan abroad.

In the period from January through April 2020, Uzbekistan exported goods worth $1.7 billion. Uzbek products are supplied to 73 countries of the world. Russia, Turkey, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan top the list, the message said.

In 2019, $1.2 billion worth of agricultural products were exported abroad, and in the period from January through April 2020 their export amounted to $186 million.
