International Investment Bank to attract investors to Uzbekistan

Wood & Company International Investment Bank discussed the attraction of investors to the new emerging markets of Europe and Eurasia, as well as the issues of economic development of countries such as Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Romania, Slovenia, Ukraine, Croatia and Uzbekistan, Trend reports with reference to Dunyo information agency.

The issue was discussed by the Deputy Chairman of the Senate of Uzbekistan Sodiq Safoyev, Director of the Agency for Capital Market Development Atabek Nazirov, Acting Chairman of the Board of the investment company UzAssets Akram Mukhamatkulov and Ambassador Said Rustamov with the Wood & Company's representatives.

Representatives of the Senate and the Embassy of Uzbekistan informed the participants of online meeting about the large-scale reforms carried out in Uzbekistan in recent years, primarily in the field of economic liberalization, increasing the country's investment attractiveness, expanding trade, economic and investment ties with the states of Central Asia and other regions.

Also, the representatives mentioned the dynamic economic growth even against the background of the economic crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the growth of Uzbekistan’s positions in international rankings, the successful entry of the country into the international stock market.

The heads of the Agency for the Development of the Capital Market and UzAssets investment company made a detailed presentation on the state and prospects for the development of the capital market in Uzbekistan, including plans to create an International Financial Center in the country, as well as attractiveness of enterprises with state participation.

More than 100 banking and financial institutions, investment companies, pension and hedge funds, including EBRD, HSBC, Blackrock, Fidelity, BCR Private Pension Fund, Sandglass capital advisors (UK) ltd, Dunross & Co, InterCapital Asset Management, Karoll Capital Management, Metzler Asset Management GmbH took part in the online meeting.
