Azerbaijan increased the export of precious and semiprecious stones in the first four months of 2021, as well as natural pearls by 48.2 percent, or $21.3 million, Trend reports with reference to the statistical bulletin of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan.
Reportedly, the export turnover of these products amounted to $65.7 million, and the share in the country's total exports increased from 0.7 to 1.03 percent.
"At the same time, the import of precious and semiprecious stones, as well as natural pearls increased by 57.6 percent and exceeded $7.64 million. The share of these products in the total imports of Azerbaijan amounted to 0.22 percent, having increased by 0.08 percentage points on annual basis," the SCC said.
The total volume of foreign trade turnover of precious and semiprecious stones, as well as natural pearls in the first 4 months of 2021, amounted to $73.3 million, which is 49 percent more compared to the same period of 2020.
Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover approached $9.9 billion at the beginning of May 2021. Of these, exports accounted for $6.36 billion (64.33 percent), and imports - $3.53 billion (35.67 percent).
