BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 2. The value of cargo transit through the customs of Iran’s Kurdistan Province in the west of the country amounted to over $987 million, during the first three months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through June 21, 2023), Deputy Chairman of the Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of Kurdistan Province, Taha Samee said, Trend reports.
According to Samee, transited goods mainly consisted of various fuels, copper, tires, cigarettes, etc.
“In addition, approximately $219 million worth of goods were exported through the customs of the province for 3 months. Of that, 61 percent accounted for agricultural products, 19 percent for chemical products and mining minerals, and 20 percent for industrial products,” he said.
The deputy chairman also added that the mentioned products were mainly exported to Iraq, Türkiye, Syria and India.
“Within 3 months, $72.1 million worth of goods were imported through the customs of Iran’s Kurdistan Province. The imported goods were aluminum ingots, various equipment and spare parts, etc.,” Samee noted.
There are 3 customs offices operating in Kurdistan Province of Iran.
Overall, Iran exported 35.5 million tons of non-oil products worth $12.5 billion within the first three months of the current Iranian year.
This is a decrease of 8.84 percent in value, while an increase of 24.4 percent in volume compared to the same period in the last year.
At the same time, Iran imported 9.6 million tons of goods worth $14 billion in 3 months, which is an increase of 5.79 percent in value and 1 percent in volume compared to the same period in the last year.
