Roughly 44.5 million tons of oil and condensate were produced in Azerbaijan in 2008 compared to 41.6 million in 2007, the State Committee for Statistics said.
The bulk of oil fell to the Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC), which produced 35.9 million tons from the offshore Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli field in 2008 compared to 32.9 million tons in 2007.
Gas production was roughly 23 billion cubic meters in 2008 compared to 11 billion cubic meters in 2007.
Gas production by AIOC at the Shah Deniz field was 9.1 billion cubic meters compared to 5.5 billion cubic meters in 2007.
In 2008, Azerbaijan produced about 20.2 billion kilowatts-hours of electricity compared to 20.3 billion in 2007. Over the past 5 years, oil production increased 2.9 time, and gas production - 3.2 times. During this period, roughly 157.2 million tons of oil and 43.9 billion cubic meters of exported gas were produced.
