By 15:00 on May 18, Bakielektrikshebeke JSC (distribution and sale of electricity in Baku) has sent warning notifications to about 6,300 indebted JSC subscribers, Electricity Sale Department Head Vugar Nabibayli said on May 19.
"After the spread of these notices, about 40 percent of these subscribers have made the payment," Nabibayli said.
In order to bring the charges to customers for the used electricity to 100 percent, on May 18 the energy supply will be turned off at the citizens who have debt. On May 18, power supply was turned off at several hundred subscribers and some of them have already made the payment for the used electricity (after disconnection). Electricity supply to these subscribers will be restored within a few days, Nabibayli said.
Nabibayli said the main task of JSC now is to increase collection among consumers for the used electricity to 100 percent.
As previously warned, no concessions will be made to subscribers on payment of debt.
Currently, the number of the JSC's subscribers in Baku is about 680,000, of which about 30-40 percent of pay for the used electricity as soon as possible after receipt of the accumulated debt.
For each day of delay of payment for the used electricity, subscriber pays an additional 0.01 percent of the amount of debt
From May 1 to 19, subscribers paid roughly 6 million manat for the used electricity. A large part of the payment was made using "Azerpocht online" - 27 percent, while about 14 percent - through the International Bank of Azerbaijan.
The JSC uses different means to prevent subscribers of the accumulated debt, particularly there is a sms warning system about the need for payment for the JSC's commercial subscribers.
