The Georgian International Black Sea port of Poti shipped about 400,000 tons of oil products in the first half of 2009, a source in the port said.
"The largest part of oil products, shipped in January-June, fell to petrol, diesel fuel and aviation kerosene. Generally about 400,000 tons of oil products were shipped," the source said.
The port shipped 2.75 million of different cargo and 2.35 million tons of this volume fell to dry cargo in this period, the source said.
The port shipped less than planned in January-June due to the global financial and economic crisis, "but we hope the situation will improve in the second half," the source said.
Under the initial forecasts, the Poti port planned to ship around 1.5 million tons of oil products. It is expected that shipment volume of the port will decrease by 20-30 percent due to the global crisis, particularly oil products' shipment.
The Poti port planned to ship around 8 million tons of different cargo in 2009.
