SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) plans to drill three gas wells on the Guneshli-6 platform on the offshore field of the same name, SOCAR said. The company develops the shallow part of the Guneshli field by its own funds.
Thus, the SOCAR Complex Drilling Work Trust has already begun to drill a deep well with a depth of 3,500 meters.
The Guneshli-6 platform was put into operation in 1986. About 2.2 billion cubic meters of gas and 5.1 million tons of oil were produced from the field during 23 years. Currently, the company produces 240,000 cubic meters of gas and 100 tons of oil per day (with condensate) from the seven wells operating on the platform.
The company will put into operation 5 wells on the Gunashli platform by late 2009.
