The Georgian International Sea port of Poti transshipped 1.04 million tons of oil cargo in January-November compared to 818,000 tons over the same period of 2009, a source in the Poti port told Trend.
According to the source, in January-November, the port transshipped over 6.6 million tons of various cargo compared to more than 5.5 million tons in January-November last year.
Some 3.2 million tons fell to general cargo compared to over 2.7 million tons during the same period of 2009. Also part of the cargo transshipped by the terminal fell to containers. In particular, during this period the port transshipped 190,800 TEU-containers against 151,700 in January-November last year, the source said.
He said according to forecasts by late 2010 the amount of the port's cargo transshipment will amount to 7.2 -7.3 million tons.
In 2009, the port handled about 6.1 million tons of various cargo, including more than 3.04 million tons - general cargo and over 2.1 million tons - bulked cargo.
The port reported that it handled 172,800 tons of containerized cargo in 2009. The port has 15 berths.
