Iran 's electricity exports to neighboring countries increased by more than 25 percent since the current solar year began on March 20, 2011, until now, ILNA reported.
Iran exported more than 3,630 Gigawatts per hour of electricity to neighbors, which indicates a 25.54 percent increase compared to the same period in the last solar year, which ended on March 20, 2011.
By having implemented the removal of subsides, the rate of power consumption in the country was reduced, creating a good opportunity for export.
The Iranian government pays each citizen $45 a month as a compensation for a part of commodities and energy subsides, cut in December 2010.
In early August, the Iranian government transferred $23 billion into citizen's bank accounts to retract subsidies during the past eight months.
Today, Iran exports electricity to Armenia, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan (to Nakhchivan), Turkey, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
