Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus plan to launch joint oil consortium

Belarusian state oil production association Belorusneft and Russian oil company Zarubezhneft at the International Scientific Conference in Belarus proposed to create a joint consortium in the Eurasian Union to Kazakh national oil and gas company KazMunaiGas, Belorusneft reported on Tuesday.

"The initiative of Belorusneft and Zarubezhneft on establishing the Soyuznefteotdacha consortium within the Eurasian Union was supported [at the conference]. The leadership of Kazakhstan's national oil and gas company KazMunaiGas was invited to take part in establishing these associations," the company said.

The consortium will be aimed at development and introduction of modern technologies to improve oil reservoir recovery.

Zarubezhneft is a Russian state-controlled oil company that specializes in exploration, development and operation of oil and gas fields outside Russian territory.

Belorusneft is the Belarusian state petrochemical company engaged in exploration, development, production and marketing of oil and gas in and outside Belarus.

KazMunaiGas is the Kazakh national operator for hydrocarbon exploration, production, processing and transportation. The state owns 100-percent shares of the company.
