KazMunaiGas NC JSC plans to increase Kazakh content to 63 percent in 2013. This was stated today by the Deputy Chairman of KazMunaiGas, Magzum Mirzagaliev at a forum of oil and gas companies titled "Oil and Gas: Kazakh Content 2013".

"According to the preliminary results of 2012, the total amount of purchases in KazMunaiGas group of companies amounted to 1.1 trillion tenge (150.53 tenge = $ 1), with the local content in procurement at 60 percent, which is 11 percent more than the local content in 2011. Of total purchases, local content in the procurement of goods amounted to 56 percent, of works - 58 percent, and of services - 64 percent. This year we plan to increase the total share of local content in the procurement of goods, works and services to 63 percent," Mirzagaliev said.

He informed the participants of the forum of completion of preparation of five-year the procurement plans.

Mirzagaliev said the program to promote the development of oil and gas engineering and production of new oil and gas equipment in Kazakhstan for 2012-2014 is under implementation. Plants located all over Kazakhstan are involved in production and it allows employing nearly 30,000 people. According to him, growth is achieved by increasing the number of participants from 53 to 69 companies, as well as the volume of purchases of individual products.

"In recent years, the dynamics in procurement by KMG group of oil and gas equipment, machinery and materials from companies involved in the program has been a positive and characterized by systematic growth. The total procurement of engineering products for the year 2012 amounted to over 36 billion tenge, and in 2011 - 33 billion tenge," Mirzagaliev said.
