Iran progressing with work on its National Gas Pipeline

Iran continues working on its National Gas Pipeline (NGP), Bahram Salavati, an official with the Iranian Gas Engineering and Development Company (IGEDC) said, Trend reports via IRNA.

He said that certain parts of the NGP have been launched since the start of the current Iranian year (began March 21, 2019), such as: South Pars Interconnection Pipeline, the Beyram gas pipeline, the Kam Firouz gas pipeline, the Hematabad - Bar gas pipeline and the Damavand gas pipeline.

"About 400 kilometers of pipelines have been laid down since the beginning of this Iranian year,” he said adding that according to plans, 210 kilometers of new pipelines will soon be ready as well.

He also spoke of the recent gas pressure installation units that have been set up.

"Three units of the Deylam gas compressor station, three units of Ahvaz gas compressor station, three units of Hosseinieh gas compressor station, four units of Kouhdasht gas compressor station and a unit of Parchin gas compressor station have been set up and put into operation,” said Salavati.

“So far, a total of 14 units have been put into operation and 10 units will be put into operation in the near future,” he added.

He also referred to the progress of construction of pipelines and infrastructures of the Sistan and Baluchestan gas network.

“In total, 5 projects have been defined in Sistan and Baluchestan province, most of which are in implementation phase,” he noted.

Salavati went on to add that contractors for construction of Iranshahr-Chabahar gas transmission pipeline have been selected.

“To accelerate the process of construction, the project is divided into four sections,” he said. "According to plans, it is expected to take about 18 months to complete the project.”

In addition, the official said that the contractor for the Dashtak-Zabul gas pipeline project has also been selected.
