Iran abolishes VAT on domestic sales of crude oil, gas condensate

The Iranian parliament has abolished the value added tax (VAT) on the sales of oil, natural gas and gas condensate by the National Iranian Oil Company to domestic refineries, Trend reports referring to the Iranian parliament.

A decision in this regard was approved by the Iranian parliament on Jan. 20.

According to the decision, the Iranian Ministry of Petroleum (affiliated companies) won’t apply VAT on jet fuel, natural gas imports, and the taxes on the sales for these products will be applied at a later stage.

The decision reads that 30 percent tax will be applied on the sales of various types of gasoline and jet fuel, while a 15 percent tax will be applied on the sales of diesel fuel, white oil, fuel oil, natural gas and liquefied gas.

In the voting related to the parliament’s decision, 158 MPs voted in favor of this decision’s approval, 18 voted against and 2 abstained.
