Kazakhstan’s Kazatomprom National Atomic Company JSC has sold its Kazakhstan Solar Silicon LLP subsidiary via online auction, Trend reports citing Kazakh media.

The information said that the LLP was sold for 322.8 million tenge ($745,500). The starting price was 16.7 million tenge ($38,570), and the guarantee payment for participation in the auction was 87.5 million tenge ($202,100).

Taking into account that the auction for the sale of the LLP was declared invalid several times before, the auction was held to lower the price (Dutch auction).

Kazakhstan’s Kazatomprom National Atomic Company JSC first announced that it will hold an additional auction of its non-core solar energy assets in February 2021.

Kazatomprom’s 100 percent stakes in the authorized capital of MC KazSilicon LLP, Astana Solar LLP and Kazakhstan Solar Silicon LLP are being sold through the public auction. These non-core assets of the сompany are being sold as part of the Comprehensive Privatization Plan for 2021–2025, approved by the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Astana Solar LLP is a modern plant for photovoltaic module assembly. The enterprise is equipped with a European automated line with a production capacity of 50 MW/year, which may be increased to 100 MW/year.

Kazakhstan Solar Silicon LLP is a Kazakhstan plant for the production of multicrystalline silicon wafers and photovoltaic cells with a design capacity of 60 MW per year.

KazSilicon Metallurgical Plant LLP is located in Bastobe village, Karatal district, Almaty region. The company operates the Sarykul deposit, a vein of milky white quartz of the highest natural purity (99.5 percent).
