BAKU, Azerbaijan, Oct.24. Petkim has been shut down gradually for planned maintenance since September 7, 2022, SOCAR Türkiye told Trend October 24.
“As of today, all our plants at Petkim have stopped operation. During this planned downtime, the maintenance, repair and renewal of our main production equipment is carried out, which is not possible when the plants operate. Our primary goal in Petkim's planned maintenance is to fulfill the legal requirements related to occupational health, safety and environment and the international occupational safety standards we have adopted,” said the company.
SOCAR Türkiye said that while the planned maintenance is underway, the company continues to meet the needs of the sector with its existing stocks, even though the production has been halted in the plants.
Petkim is the first and the sole integrated petrochemical facility in Turkey. It is the largest exporter in the Aegean region. Petkim’s production capacity is 3.6 million tons per year. The petrochemical complex produces around 60 different types of products and exports to 78 countries. The complex meets about 20 percent of Turkey’s demand for petrochemical products.
