BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 26. Gasoline consumption in Iran rose to a daily record figure - about 142 million liters in the first days of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2023), Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji told reporters in Tehran on April 26, Trend reports citing Shana News Agency.

The minister emphasized that despite the maximum level of gasoline consumption, there were no problems with gasoline supply at 4,400 gas stations in the country. There is an average of 29 million cars in Iran.

“Recently, there are some rumors about increasing the price of gasoline in the Iran. However, the Oil Ministry has no plans to increase the price of gasoline countrywide,” he noted.

Owji added that Iran's Oil Ministry fulfilled 95 percent of its obligations in the oil and gas sectors for the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), and the ministry will try to fulfill its obligations at maximum level in the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024).

As reported, Iran currently produces 105 million liters of gasoline (75 million liters in accordance with Euro 4 standards) and 110 million liters of diesel (54 million liters in accordance with Euro 4 and 5 standards) in 10 oil refineries.

At present, the price of 1 liter of gasoline in Iran is 15,000 rials with a quota (about $0.35 at the official exchange rate, $0.03 at the black market), and freely at 30,000 rials (about $0.71 at the official exchange rate, $0.06 at the black market).
