Rothschild & Co is ready to cooperate with Uzbekistan on the privatization of large state-owned enterprises and banks with the involvement of interested foreign investors, as well as in cooperation in the development and reform of the national banking system, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan.
This topic was discussed at the meeting of the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov with the Vice-Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Rothschild & Co, Éric de Rothschild.
The parties discussed the current state of cooperation in a number of areas and opportunities for its expansion in the near future.
Rothschild praised the success of the reforms carried out in Uzbekistan aimed at establishing an open state with a diversified economy.
The progress achieved in privatization of state assets in Uzbekistan, as well as positive trends in the development of the banking and financial sector of the country, were noted. Rothschild voiced interest in working together to transform the transport sector, including by providing assistance in attracting private investors to the implementation of infrastructure projects in Uzbekistan.
It was also agreed that the parties will establish cooperation on joint investment preparation of priority projects in the fields of metallurgy, chemical and petrochemical industries, agriculture and tourism, with the subsequent attraction of foreign investors to the implementation of these projects.
Following the talks, the parties outlined further steps for practical interaction within the framework of the discussed areas of cooperation.
