Azerbaijan, Baku, May 20 / Trend , S.Babayeva/
The Azerbaijani Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies (IT) intends to obtain a support of the Regional Commonwealth in Communication (RCC) on the project to form the transnational Eurasian super-information main, the ministry reported on May 20.
"The ministry's delegation had already left for Bordeaux to take part in the meeting of the RCC heads of communication administrations, during where will make a presentation on the construction of highway project," the ministry said.
Previously, the Ministry spread a document entitled "Support for the creation of transnational Eurasian super-information main" upon the initiative of the Azerbaijani government at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in late April. The CE approached to the paper with interest.
The project aims to create a powerful information infrastructure in order to access affordable and quality internet broadband services for the development of electronic information networks and electronic markets.
The IT Ministry believes that the project will enable the participant-countries to develop not only information technology, but also the social sector and other areas of the economy.
Experts believe that first, a single management structure must created to implement the project and all interested parties must take part in the development of a unified strategy to establish a network to regulate tariffs.
The cost of the project has not yet been determined. The initiator of the project is the Azerbaijani government and the U.S. Department for Trade and Development.
The Ministry's delegation at the 40th meeting of the Heads of the RCC Communications Administrations is led by Head of the Ministry Information Society Development Rufat Gulmammadov.
